Welcome to the latest edition of The Guilder – a newsletter to keep you uptodate with everything happening at The Guild.

The Grand Opening took place on Saturday January 18th 2025 with Neil Back MBE, RWC2003 Winner, cutting the ribbon in the presence of Coventry’s Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and Nev Griffiths (our oldest Guilder) down to our youngest Guilder.

It was so great to see so many Guilders turn out for the day! Tony Coleman (TC), who did a fantastic job as Master of Ceremonies (MC) remarked that we probably had enough Vets to put six sides out that afternoon! Thanks also to our awesome photographer, Mark Bayliss.

The Mens team hosted a strong Evesham II XV, but were beaten 0-59 on the day. Some moves from the training field are becoming well executed, but “a tough day at the office for the lads!” It didn’t dampen the party spirit and festivities went on late into the evening!

Neil Back stayed for the game and to present the Man of the Match Awards and Prize Pratt of the Day! We were also pleased to welcome the following dignatories to the event:

• Lord Mayor of Coventry Mal Mutton and the Lady Mayoress

• Reverend Richard Hibbert, Vicar of Holy Trinity Church

• From Warwickshire RFU - Yorkie Kinmond, President, President Elect Damien Dixon (and Match Referee) and Matt Smith

• From Evesham RFC - David Summerfield, President and Douglas Payne, Chairman

•Will Oelrich , BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Presenter

• Raj Bahey, Sport England

• Marc Lord, Scorpion Sportswear

• Dave Mauchlan, Sky Wines

• Rob Mauchlan, Sports Agent
