As the rugby season gets underway, we are providing the latest update on the progress of our exciting move to Martin Wheeler Fields, the new home of Trinity Guild RFC. The club Ground Committee have been working incredibly hard in the background to help prepare our new site – as you may have seen on previous social media updates. The clubhouse is looking stunning, and the complexity of the work being done will provide us with a truly state of the art facility, fit for the future of the Guild.
Work continues to be done on the pitches, we have a firm desire to deliver the highest quality playing surfaces for all of our teams, and we can’t wait to get boots on the grass as soon as possible.
Whilst our facility is nearing completion, there have been a number of delays with suppliers and contractors that will now slightly slow down the pace of our move – and this is why we are updating you today.
With the increased interest in engaging with the club around both indoor and outdoor usage, it is vital that we ensure that the new club is robust, fit-for-purpose, and of the highest quality, and that is why we are working closely with the contractors to increase the speed of progress being made, but are also looking to make sure that the move is done properly.
What did this mean for our members?
We appreciate that all of our members value consistency and continuity, so In order to deliver as little change to the playing experience as possible, we have secured a continuation of access to our previous playing+training pitches at Finham Park School – thanks to Community Lettings and the swift action of the Club Committee.
All training and playing days/times will remain unaffected – and we have access to the pitches and changing room space.
When should we be in our new Home?
Our contractors and suppliers have indicated to us that we should be in by 28th October 2024. This is the date we are now working towards and hope you share our excitement.
Spirit of the Guild
This year, we are celebrating 125 years of our beloved club – and we have survived many challenges over the years, including most recently navigating the COVID period, and the challenges of moving to our temporary arrangements at Finham Park. We are nearly there with securing the home of the club for the next 125 years and beyond!
What next?
We understand that there are still likely to be some questions around the delay – if you do have any questions, please contact Martin Wheeler, Luke Donnelly or Steve Shirley
